A series of hand-made paper works, made from salvaged textiles (old bedsheets) hand-dyed in shades of blue with natural indigo, and transformed to pulp that I can paint with to form paper. The title of the series, “Nibbling The Sky”, references a folk story about indigo. It tells of a woman whose loneliness for god, and hunger for beauty, made her long to become one with the sky - which long ago could be nibbled in small amounts to fill the heart, rather than the belly. The woman’s hunger was so strong she consumed too much, and so the sky was pulled far away from everyone resulting in infinite desire for all people. The longing of people was then materialised in indigo blue.
